One gesture, three moments

From the rack to the music.

The camera reads barcode, centre label, and sleeve evidence. When the evidence is shared or uncertain, DISCTALE asks before it plays.

01

Point

Keep the record inside the frame. The same camera watches for the strongest available evidence.

02

Recognise

A safe match opens the record. Ambiguous editions wait for your tap — no confident identity, no automatic sound.

03

Play

Hear a preview or a linked full track when one exists. A silent find still keeps its release and tracklist.

After the scan

More than a match.

I

Recognise.

Barcode, centre label, and cover evidence meet one catalogue. DISCTALE can show candidates instead of pretending every sleeve proves an exact pressing.

A known record is not always a known edition.

II

Listen.

Open the release and tracklist, hear a preview, continue through your own music service when the recording is available there, or watch the official YouTube upload when nothing else carries it.

Recognition and playback are separate promises.

III

Remember.

Keep a record, revisit the Crate, see what your Taste says, find your Discogs collection, and remember the places where you dug.

A scan becomes part of a collection, not a dead receipt.

The whole crate

Every kind of digger belongs here.

From Tokyo to Berlin to Milan, record culture is made by women, queer people, collectors, DJs, shop workers, first-timers, and lifelong obsessives. DISCTALE is for the whole community — without gatekeeping and without one default way to look, listen, or belong.

  • No gatekeeping.
  • No default digger.
  • Every way in counts.

Inside DISCTALE

A real record. The real app.

A closer look at the 0.7.10 beta: the camera, your records, listening and places to dig. The native screens below were captured on iOS Simulator; the film above shows real use on iPhone.

01 · Recognise

See the sleeve. Find the record.

Keep a record in the frame. Hear a preview when one is available, or choose from the matches when the app needs your confirmation.

02 · Explore

There’s more in the sleeve.

Open the tracklist, explore Discogs listings and the price guide, check an asking price, or add the record to your wantlist. Edition details stay visible when a pressing is still unverified.

03 · Keep listening

Follow the music further.

Use Listen to recognise nearby music with Shazam. Try alternate and Try harder offer more ways to find a track. Open an available YouTube video, with autoplay set the way you like it, or continue in your music service.

04 · Crate + Taste

The dig leaves a trail.

Keep the records you love, organise collections and return to saved digs. Taste brings together the styles in your Kept records, with Listen later for discoveries worth another spin.

05 · Record shops

Find your next place to dig.

Explore nearby record shops on Apple Maps, check the list, and save the places you want to visit. The next dig starts around you.

Keep digging

Your next favourite record may already be in your hands.
