Terms of service
The terms under which the DISCTALE beta is provided, including the third-party services it relies on and the YouTube Terms of Service.
In force for the DISCTALE beta
Version of 14 September 2026
DISCTALE is provided by Giuseppe Albrizio, independent developer, Milan, Italy, under the Formray name (contact: admin@formray.io). These terms describe the beta as it exists now; the date at the top changes when they change.
1. The service
DISCTALE is an iOS app that identifies a physical record from its barcode, cover or centre label and helps you listen to it. Recognition uses catalogue data and playback uses third-party services, each under its own terms. DISCTALE does not promise that every recognised record has playable audio, and it never starts sound for a record it is not sure about.
TestFlight access requires a beta invitation, separate from your optional DISCTALE account. TestFlight in-app purchases use Apple’s test environment and do not charge real money. The planned App Store AI subscription is EUR 5.99 per month or EUR 59.99 per year in Italy; the purchase screen shows the applicable storefront price and billing period before Apple asks you to confirm.
AI allowance and subscriptions
The free allowance is 5 AI investigations per account per calendar month. An active paid plan includes 50 each month, including with annual billing. The allowance resets on the first day of each month at 00:00 UTC; unused investigations do not carry over.
A useful result or a result that needs your confirmation uses one investigation. A requested second view is included, with at most two requested passes per investigation. An error, no result or cancellation before accepting a result does not use your allowance. Closing an already accepted result does not undo its consumption. AI can be uncertain or wrong and does not guarantee an exact edition or playable audio.
App Store subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through Apple. Apple presents the price, billing period and purchase confirmation. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple subscription settings and request eligible refunds through Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. Account deletion is separate and does not cancel billing. Purchase, restore, pending and refund outcomes depend on verified Apple status; a pending or cancelled purchase grants no paid access.
You can continue scanning records and use Try harder and YouTube without an account or paid plan. AI requires its separate consent and an available personal allowance. Access may also be temporarily unavailable because of service or shared budget limits; those failures do not consume the personal allowance.
2. Third-party services and their terms
Catalogue identities come from Discogs and remain subject to the Discogs terms. Short previews are streamed from Apple (iTunes) or Deezer and are never stored for offline playback. Spotify playback happens in your own Spotify account. YouTube videos are shown in the official embedded YouTube player; by using the YouTube features of DISCTALE you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), and Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
DISCTALE does not sell advertising on or within any of that content and does not modify it.
3. Your use
Use DISCTALE for your own listening and collecting. Do not attempt to download, record or redistribute previews or videos through the app, to circumvent the tap-gated playback, or to use the service to scrape catalogues or third-party services.
You are responsible for the accounts you link (for example Discogs) and for the permissions you grant on your device. You can unlink an account or revoke a permission at any time from the app or from iOS Settings.
4. Beta software, no warranty
The beta is provided as is. Recognition can be wrong or uncertain, audio can be missing, and features can change between builds. To the extent permitted by law, the provider is not liable for losses arising from the use of the beta. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law grants you and that cannot be waived.
5. Changes, ending the beta, law and venue
These terms and the beta can change; the date at the top tells you which version you are reading. Access to the beta can be withdrawn when TestFlight testing ends. Questions and requests go to admin@formray.io or to the contact on the Support page.
These terms are governed by Italian law. Disputes go to the courts of Milan, Italy, without prejudice to the mandatory venue rules that protect consumers in their country of residence.
